In the application aspect of the research conducted by 2Ai for transversal themes such as health or safety, it is worth mentioning qualities such as the internationally competitive curriculum of its researchers, the innovation present in the work developed, and the mobilization to integrate “smart” characteristics in the services created. Vítor Carvalho
He holds a PhD in Industrial Electronics (2009). Currently, he is Coordinating Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA), as well as an integrated researcher at the Applied Artificial Intelligence Research Laboratory at IPCA and collaborator at the Algoritmi Research Center at the University of Minho. He is also Director of the School of Technology at IPCA and President of the Pedagogical Council of the same School. His main research interests focus on topics such as data acquisition systems, non-playful games and machine learning. He has published more than 200 scientific articles, being a member of editorials of several international conferences and publications, and counts a total of 673 (h index 15) citations on Google Scholar and 385 (h index 10) on Scopus. Additionally, he has supervised several Masters and PhD students.
João Vilaça
He has a degree in Industrial Electronics and Computers from the University of Minho (2004, Portugal). In 2008, he received a PhD in Industrial Electronics from the same University, and during his thesis he worked on the development of devices that model customized prostheses for surgery. In parallel, he founded iSurgical3D (spin-off). João Vilaça is also Coordinator of 2Ai, Head of the BeSurg Research Group (Associated Laboratory ICVS / 3B’s) and Director of the IPCA Technology Department.
Nuno Alberto Ferreira Lopes
He holds a PhD in Computer Engineering from the University of Minho and a degree in Systems Engineering and Computer Science from the same university. He is currently Adjunct Professor at IPCA, coordinating the disciplinary area of Hardware, Communications and Operating Systems, having been Director of the Degree in Computer Systems Engineering and a member of the Directorate of Masters in Computer Engineering and Master in Integrated Management Systems - Quality , Environment and Security. He taught UCs on Computer Architecture, Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Data Communications, Programming Languages, Concurrent and Distributed Programming, Computer Security and Auditing, and Information Systems for Quality, Environment and Security. His areas of interest include Information Security, Business Process Management, and parallel and distributed computing systems.
Mariana Teixeira de Carvalho
She holds a PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering, specializing in Industrial and Systems Management (2012, Universidade do Minho). She is currently an Adjunct Professor at the IPCA Higher School of Technology (EST). His main research interests are in areas such as reliability and maintenance of technological systems, quality management of systems, services and Smart Cities. He has been a member of scientific committees and international conferences, as well as reviewing articles in journals in the aforementioned areas. She is Director of the Science Department and a member of the Pedagogical Practices and Educational Motivation Commission. At the same time, he has accompanied and supervised undergraduate, master's and doctoral students, as well as a member and/or president of the jury for a master's dissertation. Participation in collegiate bodies such as the General Council of IPCA, Technical-Scientific Council and Pedagogical Council of EST.
